Park School is celebrating a significant achievement after being highly commended in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards for Performing Arts Achievement, recognising the school's outstanding commitment to music, drama and performance opportunities.
Performing arts are a vibrant part of school life at Park, with pupils benefiting from 117 music lessons every week, specialist tuition from nine peripatetic music teachers, a thriving choir, orchestra, jazz band and a wide range of performance opportunities throughout the year.
One of the standout moments of this academic year was the school choir's performance at the Bournemouth Schools Carol Concert at Bournemouth Pavilion, giving pupils the opportunity to showcase their talents on one of the region's most prestigious stages. The choir also enjoyed success in the wider community, winning the Primary Category at the Bournemouth Performing Arts Competition.
The school's commitment to nurturing talent extends beyond music. Pupils take part in annual productions across all year groups, while 41 children currently study LAMDA, with every candidate achieving either a Merit or Distinction in this year's examinations. Park is also an ABRSM examination venue and encourages pupils to pursue opportunities at a national level, including the National Children's Choir of Great Britain.
Headteacher Nadia Ward said of the commendation:
"We are absolutely delighted to receive this commendation. It reflects the passion, dedication and enthusiasm of our pupils and staff, who embrace every opportunity to perform, create and grow in confidence. We are particularly proud of the way our children represent the school, whether performing at Bournemouth Pavilion, competing locally or achieving success in national programmes."
The Park School community now looks forward with excitement to September, when the finalists for the Independent Schools of the Year Awards will be announced.
