Explore Little Crickets Forest School

Welcome to Little Crickets, a Forest School nursery for children aged 2–5, where muddy hands, fresh air and our teepee classroom create the perfect outdoor learning environment.

Manager’s Welcome

As Manager,  and as the setting’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and SENDCo, I’m proud to lead a team that is passionate about outdoor learning and creating a nurturing, adventurous environment for every child. I’ve been part of Little Crickets since we first opened, and it’s a joy to see our woodland setting inspire confidence, curiosity and independence each day.

When I’m not at Forest School, you’ll usually find me exploring Bournemouth’s beaches and woodlands with my daughter, or baking something creative for friends and family. I’m delighted to welcome you to Little Crickets and look forward to supporting your child’s journey with us.

Emma Sculfor, Manager

Why Choose Little Crickets Forest School?

The importance of outdoor learning

Outdoor play is very important for children to explore, take risks and learn about the natural environment.

Letting children be children

We embrace the magic of outdoor childhood. From muddy play and puddle‑jumping to discovering bugs and building dens. These experiences help children grow in confidence, creativity and resilience.

Preparation for school

We focus on the key skills children need for a smooth transition to school, from turn‑taking and teamwork to early language, number awareness and self‑care. The outdoor environment provides rich opportunities for children to practise these skills naturally and joyfully.

Settling-In Sessions

We offer two settling sessions. The first is a one‑hour visit with the parent and child, giving the key worker time to get to know the family and set up access to the Ovivio app. The second is a one‑hour drop‑off session, allowing the child to explore the environment, build confidence and begin forming relationships with the support of their key worker.
